家族の大福帳

大福帳(昔ながらの日本の台帳)は昔の日本の商店街で用いられた、購入者、商品、価格を記した台帳だ。 私の家族は約130年前から呉服に携わってきた。当時、日本ではペンが手に入らなかったので、すべての記録は墨を用い、筆で和紙に書かれた。私の曾祖父は、おそらく100年前にこれらの言葉を墨で書いたのだ。 墨で書かれたこれらの言葉は私の体を流れる記憶の風である。

DAIFUKUCHO of MY FAMILY

DAIFUKUCHO (old-fashioned Japanese account book) is a ledger in which entries were made in olden days by Japanese shops indicating purchaser, commodity and price of each time.

My family has been engaged in the drapery business from about 130 years ago. As writing pen was not available in Japan at the time, all necessary records were made on washi (Japanese hand molded paper) with a brush using Indian ink. My great-grand father wrote these words in Indian ink perhaps 100 years ago.

These words written in Indian ink are to me the winds of memory flowing through my body.

曾祖父が営んでいた呉服店に残っていた明治期の大福帳を使用した作品シリーズ。

A series of works using the DAIFUKUCHO of the Meiji period, which had been left in a kimono shop owned by my great grandfather.
